A November Date...

When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”...) - LUKE 2:22-23

Two days and one year later... we dedicate Jose Miguel to Jesus, very much like the way Joseph and Mary presented Jesus to the Lord. We are committing him to his care, to his guidance, to his love, to what His name represents, and to nurture him so that he will "grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men..."

The whole Jose Miguel episode, up to this point, has been one of the most emotion-altering experiences of my life. It has brought me newness. It has taught me the virtue of the purity of unconditional love. It has opened my eyes yet again to the wonders of a child's innocence. It has reinstilled in me the serious responsibility of parenthood. And most of all, it has planted in my heart fresh seeds of unspeakable joy.

I bask in this shared duty of fosterage and promise in the eyes of God to do the best I can to raise him as God had originally intended - for His glory.
